The Jordan Brand will continue to release Air Jordan 3s in honor of it’s 30th year anniversary. We have already seen the Air Jordan 3 White Cement Dunk Contest and Air Jordan 3 Black Cement 2018 release last month. Have you ever wondered what was the original sketch of the Air Jordan 3 by Tinker Hatfield??? Well today, Jordan has dropped the original concept of the Air Jordan 3; the Tinker Air Jordan 3. You can purchase the Air Jordan 3 that was originally purposed to release back in the day that features the classic Nike Swoosh.

The Air Jordan 3 History

The Air Jordan 3 was first introduced back in 1987-1988. Nike have let go of Peter Moore (designer of the Air Jordan 1 and help designed the Air Jordan 2), and Bruce Kilgore (designer of the Air Jordan 2), and needed a new designer for the Air Jordan 3. Nike has turned to the famous Tinker Hatfield, who would later be known as the creator of Air Jordans 3-15 and 20. Michael and Hatfield would always come up with great ideas for the next upcoming Jordan sneakers, and work hard on them. The Air Jordan 3 was the first ever Jordan sneaker to be a mid top; making it light weighted with plenty of durability. The Air Jordan 3 features the Air Jordan Jumpman logo on the back of the shoe, elephant print on the toe box and near the heels, and visible air sole units (This was the first Jordans to ever have this feature). During the 1987-1988 NBA season, MJ became the winner of the Slam Dunk Contest, All Star MVP, All Defensive First Team and Defensive Player Of The Year. MJ was wearing the 3s during all this success. The Air Jordan 1 and 2, the free throw dunk, and a elephant are inspirations of the Air Jordan 3. The 3s were originally retailed for $100.00 back in 1988.

Features Of The Shoe

This shoe features a mixture of the classic white and black cement hues. You will notice the Nike Swoosh on the sides of the shoe, which was on the original Jordan 3 sketch, and the original Nike Air Branding located on the red heels of the shoes. If you also look at the insoles, you will see sketches on them. Finally, Tinker Hatfield’s signature can be found on the back of the shoe tongues, Nike tag on the shoe, and on the special shoe box as well.

  1. I remember when I bought these the first day they came out! I literally stood in front of the mirror for over an hour checking out my profile! LOL. For about three weeks, I literally carried a rag in my hand, ready to attack at the first sign of a scuff or smudge. Thanks for the memories.
